Just me blabbering =)

Morning everyone!!! Woke up in a wonderful mood =) Dad slept through the night, that doesnt happen very often. Today is homework day for me. A new class started Im excited about it.

My new adventure today is keeping up with the SB1040 law. I cant believe how it has blown up out of proportion. This law IS NOT a race issue. It is about US Citizens and thier rights. I would like to reiterate that this is NOT a race issue... this is about US Citizens wether you have lived here all your life or just became a citizen yesterday ... it is about us .. US Citizens losing thier rights to illigal immigrants. And when I say Illegal Imigrants I am not targeting Mexican Illegal Imigrants.. There are Illegal Imigrants from every country. And the US is not the only country to have this problem. Its just that Arizona has Decided to speak up first.

So with that said... I relish your comments on that subject. =)

  1. As someone who isn't a US citizen nor would like to be (or to be an illegal there, for that matter), let me disagree with you on something you don't address above: your own rights.

I believe you and you fellow US citizens (that live in AZ or happen to be there for some reason) have the right to go around living your lives and minding your business without being afraid of being detained because you don't carry your birth certificate or whatever is required with you all the time.

My point is, if a cop asks you for some ID and you refuse to give it (say you forgot it at home), he isn't allowed to detain you for that alone. Or, rather, he wasn't, because now he may ask for proof that you're not an illegal immigrant.

OK, some people might be flagged as 'probably illegal' with higher frequency than others and I do believe it would correlate with physical (or maybe speech) traits. That's the whole race-related concern: brown skin or weird accents might raise some flags, etc. Not my concern here, even though I'd raise all those flags myself :)

My concern and disagreement is basically that, for fear of legal immigrants taking advantage of your hard work, you're giving your rights up. You're willing to be detained, or have someone you love detained, until the right papers are produced and shown to the authorities, without doing anything illegal to begin with.

Wouldn't higher fines and sanctions to those that employ illegals, plus more frequent checks on workplaces be more effective and cheaper as means to reduce the number illegal immigrants/workers?

Er... sorry for writing so much :)

  2. Hey Daniel, thank you for the interest in my blog.. started out being just a venting place but now I fear it may grow into something more... ok so on to your response... I have in fact been arrested for not showing proof of who I was.. it does happen. another case in point about the illegal immigrants is that they can work for less wages and still end up having more by not paying taxes not paying insurance not paying medical... yes they get free health insurance... not paying fines.. I have witnessed illegals with mexico license plates throw the tickets out the window... you see they come over to Arizona.. yes Im in southern arizona, they come here to shop or what not. I have witness a beat up bloody man in the ER becausee he was tied up for 3 days as illegals ravaged his home.. killed his dog and nearly killed him... now... as a woman who's brother married a mexican national.. who by the way is her legally and always has been for 16 years ... I am not making it a race issue... I am making it an issue on how illegals let it be ... canadian... russian... or a korean or anyone else for that matter that comes here and do not follow the laws ... pay taxes ... or pay thier debts... if they want to be in this country ... follow the laws... and become a citizen right? Now what about the people that came from other countries that do follow the law and worked hard to become a citizen... like my sister in law... the illegal issue is like kicking her in the teeth.. right?
